Skunk Medicine in the Heat of July
Hello Fellow Travelers,
A vacation message of love and inspiration for you. This week has been full of messages and guidance through the healing power of nature!
For those of you who come to sessions, classes or workshops at Heart of Gaia, you know this peaceful, serence, colorful place! Plants and flowers thrive inside and out. Birds, bunnies and squirrels love to hang out and enjoy delicious snacks from Mary and Gaia's garden.
Crystals and rocks adorn many corners and each and every nook and cranny is an altar. The energies are held together with deep, divine unconditional love. Miracles, insight, healing, creative expression, and wisdom are lavishly shared and creates a strong barrier from the outside world.
This place is my haven and my portal of Divine Inspirations and Love. This is where Sacredly Inspired Living flourishes.
And there is always that occasional, energetic upheaval that interjects its wisdom in a not so desirable way...
This past week, while enjoying summer vacation with my kids and grandkids, we found such. A critter had been making its home under the back of Heart of Gaia. For the past several weeks, we heard it rattling around, and Argos (fearless canine companion) was sure he would catch whatever was lurking under the house. He obediently stood guard each time he went outside. What was this energy that had decided to bunk here? A possum, racoon, mole, vole?
Well...5 am, sun rising on another hot and sunny Colorado day. The critter either returning from it's night of prowling or urged out by the consistent, insistent Argos. It was not a happy critter, it had found a very good home. We welcome all sorts of animals, critters, insects here. (to a point) We exist in harmony here. To a point.
We were rudely awakened with the most intensely foul odor that hot morning. The critter that had made its home with us was a skunk.
He/she was not happy that a dog had ruined it's abode. The attack was on. Skunk smell everywhere. Argos, the Garden, the inside of the Heart of Gaia! All full of the smelly, stinky, undeniably malodorous rank of a very upset skunk.
Days spent cleaning up the odor. Inspirational message formulating. Blog post occuring to share with all of you skunk medicine message.
That very same day, I found a black and white feather on the front lawn. Black and white. The colors of either, or, this or that. Choice. Making choices that support a healthy self-respect. Being clear about your motivations regarding how you use your energy. Do you call goodness to you or do you engage in, or fall prey to disrespectful drama and unneccesary reactions to such drama, that leave you feeling drained?
Skunk medicine asks us to pay attention to how we use our energy. It calls us to clean out any and all disrespectful behaviors or though patterns that harm ourselves or others. This could be as simple as asking yourself often. Am I valuing myself? Am I being self respectful, self valuing, self loving and self appreciative? In this moment? With this choice?
Skunk medicine is sharp and quick once threatened. It is usually a peaceful medicine, but if attacked, it will never let you forget it, with hopes that in the future you will keep your distance and have respect for its space.
How are you living in harmony at this time? Is your living space in harmony with what you desire in your life? Does it bring you peace? Is it cozy, comfy or a battle zone of sorts. That goes for your inner living and outer living. It includes your body as temple, and your mind as faithful servant to your Spirit. Are you giving your Spirit (fire) more freedom to run the show and exert istself?
Skunk gives the message to "Be Who You Are". BE yourself, take care of who you are. Live it, and be it, and self esteem will be your sheild. There is never a need to prove to anyone who you are in order to get their love, approval, or acceptance. That proving is of the past, when perhaps you had to do so to survive, or get by, in the home or on the job.
Sacredly Inspired Living requires authentic expression of your likes, dislikes, gifts, talents, joys, feelings and emotions. It requires a maturity that Skunk reminds us of. Assert who you are without hesitation. That is all the protection you need. Live fully into the truth of your inner being. That is all the power that you need.
Walk in your truth, stand proud and go about your business. Look around and notice the kindness and goodness. You created that. Pay no mind to the bullying, arrogance, mean-spirited. Be self-respecting, valiant, honorable by being you without hesitation.
Bring out the fire (esteem) in you. Bring out the respect, the determination to BE more of your most spirited (fire), real self. Revel in it. Enjoy it. Take pride in it.
I offer you my love, blessings and true appreciation for who you are. I offer guidance and wisdom to be more of who you truly are! That is the base of my work. BE-ing love and true to your most Sacred Self. Nothing else really matters.
Have a delighfully rose scented, glorious day.
Mary
