Take time for the Changes

Hello Fellow Travelers,
The last day of January for 2020. Did this month feel like moving through mud? Did the time go by ever so slowly and methodically? For many of us, this was the experience.
Whether or not the month's cycles and rhythms creaked along slowly or marched to a more lively beat, we have made it through the first month of this brand new decade.
The medicine for this week is in regards to change. Slow, methodical change happens whether or not we determine it so. Whether or not you initiated change or change was thrust upon you, the process afterwards, when the change is implemented, is always slow and methodical.
Look back to the first of January. Does it feel as if it was very long ago? What has changed since then? What were your worries or concerns on January 1? What were you celebrating and enjoying? What was your state of mind? State of heart?
Where are you now with all of this?
Slow methodical change happens and most of the time we don't notice.
As we wind down the first month of this new decade, take time to notice the changes that have occurred for you this month. Some happened without your instruction or your consent. Some happened with your intentional focus. Some changes were a bit of both.
The energy will continue to move slowly and methodically as we go through our personal changes, and collective changes. We can be the driving force for some of these changes, and some of them we will need to ride out.

Knowing which changes we are in charge of and which ones we ride out is the medicine. Knowing how to surrender and flow, as well as lead and guide, and when to do which, is the medicine.
Life on this planet has always been tumultuous and changing. I think we are just waking up to this truth. We are not allowed to be kept in the dark anymore about anything, and this is hard on our nervous system. Knowing how and when to step back and care for ourselves, and when to step in and offer our energy is also strong medicine for living.
Life is a continuous balancing through the process of growth and change.
The cairn in the photo above taught me some things about life right now. As I created it, I carefully searched for rocks that would stack, I carefully placed them one upon the other. I searched some more, looking for what I thought would make this pile steady. Cairns are an amazing feat. You never know what piece will do and which rock will upset the whole bunch. You have to trust your self and if they all tumble, start over, and try again. Failure is an opportunity to try again.
Life as medicine.
May you find the inner resolve to surrender and flow and lead and guide. May you find what centers you and hold that close as we continue to experience big changes in small increments and wide stretches. May you build cairns with a steady hand and heart and be pleasantly delighted when the top rock teeters but does not fall.
Love,
Mary
